Project: gdevxy
Presentation of the brand new 'gdevxy' project which is nothing else than my own engineering legendary quest!

2024, I'm approaching my 40 and have been a software engineer for more than a decade. Like every engineers, I suffer now and then from the impostor syndrome. I am passionate and put the hours but objectively I am not a super-star either and I need to work hard, every day, to get to the level I want to be.
October 2024, it is my second
Devoxx
in
Antwerp, Belgium
. There are so many people that I look up to, well-regarded speakers and engineers such as Mario Fusco, Nicolai Parlog, Venkat S. or Victor Rentea. First row, I am bathing in this sheer knowledge and kindness of other peers willing to dedicate their life to the community.
The
Devoxx
had not even finished yet that the idea emerged: "F*ck yeah! This is what I want to do too! but... the gap feels so big, can I really do this?".
I am not even back home, that project
gdevxy
is born. It is a personal challenge of two points :
- Participating as a speaker in a Devoxx Conf.
- Becoming a Java Champion
The road to becoming
Java Champion
is mammoth and feels absolutely out of reach. However, there is at least one thing I know I am good at, it is perseverance, dedication and hard work!
Until now, I had never really taken part in any community frameworks, I had never been a regular contributor on stack-overflow nor have I ever been involved in open-source projects. In summary, I
s*ck
and everything is to be done!
2025 will be a new beginning and I will share my tale with you, for the greater good!
